If there is a place in Canada to reach the next generations with the Gospel, it’s Grande Prairie, Alberta. The growing city of over 60,000 people is the second youngest in Canada, with an average age of just 30.
Young families and individuals fill its neighborhoods as they find work in the area’s prospering resource industries. It is here, in November, that Will Graham is preparing to preach the Good News of Jesus Christ during the Grande Prairie Look Up Celebration. Will traveled to the community on April 4 to help launch the outreach alongside hundreds of local believers. “I’m excited to share in Grande Prairie the Gospel of Jesus, that ‘God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life’” (John 3:16, NKJV), Will said.
Youth pastor Garth Vion is already seeing the unity among local churches to reach Grande Prairie with the hope of Christ. “There is this pure, passionate desire to see people come to know the Lord,” he said. “You just have a sense that God is doing something here.” Garth began in youth ministry in Grande Prairie eight years ago and believes God will use the Look Up outreach in a mighty way among his city’s youth.
“I’ve been praying that the Word of God would become precious in the hearts and lives of our youth,” he said. “I hope and pray that through the decisions made coming up to this event and beyond it—that many more will become disciples of Jesus Christ. “I’m excited,” Garth continued. “The Bible says that when one soul comes to know the Lord, all of Heaven rejoices. We want to bring Heaven to the point of rejoicing through souls coming to know Christ.”
