Q:

Where is Heaven? Do you think we might be able to reach Heaven with a rocket? I want to be an astronaut when I grow up and go there. I am eight years old.

A:

Thank you for your letter. I’m glad you are interested in Heaven and want to go there some day. And I hope you’ll never lose that desire—because God wants you to go there!

The Bible doesn’t tell us exactly where Heaven is—although it does tell us that Heaven is a real place. However, it also tells us that Heaven is far more glorious and beautiful than anything we will ever experience during our time on earth. Some suggest this means Heaven exists in a different dimension from the universe as we know it. In any case, rockets alone will never reach it.

But I want you to remember two very important truths about Heaven. First, Heaven is the dwelling place of God, and of Jesus Christ. In other words, when we go to Heaven, we will be with God forever! I can’t imagine anything greater or more wonderful. Why would anyone not want to go there?

Second, God has provided the way for us to go to Heaven when we die. We don’t deserve to go to Heaven, because we’ve done things that are wrong. But God still loves us, and He has provided the way for us to be cleansed of our sins. That way is Jesus, who gave His life so we could be saved.

Invite Jesus to come into your life today—and He will. Then thank Him that someday you’ll go to be with Him in Heaven forever. The Bible says, “Everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life” (John 6:40).

Do you have assurance of salvation?
