Q:
I've been studying the sacred books of the major religions, and I've concluded that no religion has all the answers. I believe we can learn about the divine from every religion.
A:
Have you ever asked yourself what makes Christianity different from the other religions you’ve studied? It can be summarized in one sentence: In other religions, the human race seeks to find God — but in Christianity God seeks to find us.
Let me explain. In spite of their differences (and there are many), every religion ultimately asks the same question: How can we overcome the barrier between us and our Creator? To put it another way, how can we make ourselves acceptable to God? Except for Christianity, the major religions of the world all give the same answer: We must work to make ourselves acceptable to God. Only by our good deeds can we escape from the evils of this world, and make God like us and reward us.
But the Bible gives a different answer. It says we can never make ourselves acceptable to God, no matter how hard we try — because God is absolutely holy and pure, and even one sin would be enough to banish us from His presence forever. But God loves us, and He has provided another way for us to be saved. That way is Jesus Christ, who came down from heaven to become the final and complete sacrifice for our sins.
This is why I invite you to get to know Jesus as He is revealed in the pages of the New Testament. When you do, you’ll discover not only that God loves you, but also that He wants you to spend eternity with Him in heaven. Jesus’ words are for you: “Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father” (John 14:9).
