Q:

I remember giving my life to Jesus in Sunday school when I was about 10 years old. I was sincere at the time, but eventually I drifted away from God and the church. If I died tonight would I still get to go to Heaven? This worries me now that I'm older.

The most important question any person can ever ask is this: Where will I spend eternity? Jesus put it this way: “Wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction. … But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life” (Matthew 7:13-14).

Unfortunately, many become so preoccupied with their lives right now that they never give much thought to eternity. Some even deny that there is such a thing as life after death; they are convinced that once we die, everything comes to an end. But God put within each of us an immortal soul or spirit, and although our bodies will die, we will live on—either with God in that place of joy and peace the Bible calls Heaven, or else separated from God in that place of utter hopelessness the Bible calls Hell.

Only God knows if you sincerely gave your life to Christ as a child—but listen: you don’t have to worry another minute about your eternal salvation! Instead of depending on something that may or may not have happened many years ago, turn to Jesus Christ and put your life into His hands without delay. The Bible says, “Now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation” (2 Corinthians 6:2).

Yes, you’ve missed much by leaving God out of your life all these years. Don’t make the mistake of leaving Him out of your life any longer.
