Over the years, I suppose I’ve asked myself this question hundreds of times—and I have to admit I still don’t know the full answer. Sometimes we can see God bringing good things out of suffering or hardship—but sometimes God’s ways are hidden from us. Our knowledge is limited; the Bible says, “The secret things belong to the Lord” (Deuteronomy 29:29).

But don’t let this keep you from believing in God or giving your life to Christ. After all, isn’t it better to face life’s difficulties and perplexities with God than without Him? He knows the struggles and questions we have, and even in the midst of life’s greatest trials He wants to be with us and help us. Every believer knows the truth of Jesus’ promise: “And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age” (Matthew 28:20).

You are right: Life doesn’t always seem just or right. But let me ask you a question: What was the greatest injustice that was ever committed against a good person? The answer is clear: It was when Jesus Christ was put to death on the cross. But why did He die? He died because all our sins were placed on Him, and He died to save us and give us eternal life.
