Q:
Do you believe in
A:
God’s promise is clear: Every person who sincerely repents of sin and puts their faith and trust in Christ for their salvation will be saved — even at the last minute. The Bible says, “God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).
Do you remember the two criminals who were crucified with Jesus? (You can read about them in Luke 23:32-43.) Both had committed serious crimes and had no regard for God. One of them, the Bible says, mocked Jesus and hurled insults at Him — but the other turned to Him in faith, asking Jesus to forgive him and save him. He had only hours to live, but it wasn’t too late for him to turn to God. Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise” (Luke 23:43).
The tragedy is that some people think they can hold off coming to Christ until the last minute — but then they never do. Perhaps an accident or a sudden heart attack takes them — and then it’s too late. Or as time passes their hearts become more and more hardened toward God, and they no longer hear His voice. The Bible warns, “Now is the day of salvation” (2 Corinthians 6:2).
Thank God for His grace to your uncle — and to you. Remember: No matter who we are, we are never saved because of our good works. We are saved solely because of Christ, who died on the cross for our salvation.
