Q:
Will all my problems go away if I turn to God? I've had a couple of people say this to me, but I have a hard time believing it. I'm not sure it even works for them, if they're honest about it.
A:
I wish I could promise that all your problems would go away if you turned to God and committed your life to Jesus Christ, but I can’t, not completely. Jesus warned, “In this world you will have trouble” (John 16:33).
What I can promise is that if you give your life to Christ and begin to follow Him, God will give you wisdom to deal with your problems. All too often, we rely only on ourselves to solve our problems. But we’re weak and limited, and we fail as a result. But God loves us and wants to help us, and He will as we follow the path He has given us in His Word, the Bible. The Psalmist’s words are true: “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path” (Psalm 119:105).
God’s peace and strength will be with you also, even when your problems persist. We’re never alone when we know Christ! God is with us, and even in the midst of life’s storms and troubles, we can turn to Him for the comfort and strength we need. God’s promise is for you: “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you” (Hebrews 13:5).
Turn to Jesus Christ, and by a simple prayer of faith ask Him to forgive you and come into your life, and He will. Then ask Him to lead you to a church where you’ll hear His Word, and also discover new friends to help and encourage you.
