Rapid Response Team Manager

If so, we want to hear from you! The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association of Canada (BGEAC) is seeking a vibrant Rapid Response Team (RRT) Manager to join our team.

The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association of Canada is well known for the powerful evangelism and outreach ministry of our founder, Billy Graham. His mission is our mission: “Proclaiming the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ to all we can by every effective means available to us, and equipping others to do the same.”

As the RRT Manager, you will assess crisis situations, make decisions on deployments, and manage all details in the engagement of volunteer chaplains and coordinators that will be deployed during a response in collaboration with other relief organizations. Additionally, this individual will recruit, onboard, train, and equip volunteer chaplains as per organizational policy and procedures.  As an integral member of the BGEAC Ministry, this individual is expected to perform in a professional manner and deliver high quality outcomes and will help BGEAC carry out its mission and objectives through participation in daily prayer ministry.

The successful candidate will fulfill a full-time permanent position in the Calgary head office. This position includes benefits of life insurance, medical/dental and short term/long term disability and 15 days of vacation per year to start.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provides general oversight, implements strategic direction and develops the RRT program to increase its impact on beneficiaries
  • Stays informed of domestic and global disaster and crisis events and engages cross-organizational dialogue and discussion to determine potential involvement
  • Manages coordinated response with Samaritan’s Purse Canada emergency response activity for the duration of an emergency or critical incident response where appropriate
  • Engages with the RRT and chaplain coordinators about deployment, training opportunities and ministry updates
  • Assists in providing managerial direction for strategic ministry development
  • Leads and coordinates Critical incident stress management training, and in house chaplaincy training, including but not limited to, Sharing hope in Crisis and God’s Hope in Crisis
  • Oversees the maintenance of filing system and data entry of relevant information into RRT spreadsheets and documents
  • Debriefs and oversees Chaplain Coordinators before, during, and after deployment, as well as assists with the set-up, preparation, and tear down during deployments
  • Facilitates availability and distribution of promotional and event materials at RRT Trainings, Conferences, deployments
  • Oversees maintenance and compliance of all RRT Vehicles including the Mobile Ministry Centre
  • Leads recruitment and selection of all volunteer chaplains, including inquiries regarding application submissions as part of the recruitment and selection process
  • Serves to coordinate and promote with local emergency management personnel, First Responders and other disaster relief organizations
  • Liaises with the Christian Community to build awareness and organize support for the BGEAC and its events
  • Plans, promotes and implements Law Enforcement Appreciation Events across Canada
  • Maintains relationship between RRT and SPC Canadian Disaster Response team for co-deployment of people and resources

Qualifications:

  • Qualified applicants must be committed to Christian values and precepts and be in agreement with BGEAC Statement of Faith
  • Bachelor’s degree, diploma or certificate in crisis related training, specifically on the emotional and spiritual aspects
  • 1-2 years leadership, management or ministry service experience, preferably in relief and crisis situations
  • Public speaking experience with understanding of adult learning principles
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite computer applications
  • Detail-oriented and a good team player
  • Maintains confidentiality of records and information
  • Strong organizational, problem solving, and self-direction skills
  • Professional and friendly demeanor when dealing with people
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • A valid passport with no travel restrictions
  • A valid driver’s license
