Q:

My boyfriend claims the Bible says children born out of wedlock can't go to heaven. Is he right?

A:

No, he is not right. Not one verse in the Bible supports what he says–and to be frank, I suspect he is only claiming this because he wants to persuade you to end your pregnancy.

But two wrongs do not make a right. Yes, it was wrong for you to have sexual relations outside of marriage–but it would also be wrong for you to end the life of the unborn child who is growing within you. I know many today would not agree because they contend a fetus is not a child. But the Bible does not support this. God told Jeremiah, "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart" (Jeremiah 1:5).

How can you get on the right road? Begin by turning your life over to the One who gave it to you. God made you, and God loves you–and because He loves you, He doesn't want you to go through life making one mistake after another. By a simple step of faith ask Christ to come into your life, and then commit your future to Him.

Then seek God's help for the hard decisions you face. Only He can give you the wisdom and courage you need to do what is right and turn from what is wrong. God has a better life for you, for "no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless" (Psalm 84:11).
