Calgary, AB, July 15, 2014 – For more than 60 years, the mission of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association of Canada (BGEAC) and its founder has been to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ “using every effective means available,” and to equip others to do the same.
In the BGEAC’s earliest days, “every effective means available” was largely through public evangelistic events, print, and radio. When television came along, the Billy Graham association was one of the first Christian organizations to embrace its potential. And when the Internet was unveiled, BGEAC was quick to launch its own website.
Now the evangelical Christian organization that has proclaimed the Gospel of Jesus Christ to hundreds of millions of people in more than 185 countries has taken another significant step by launching a new ‘seeker’-oriented website aimed at helping Canadians find meaning in their lives through Jesus Christ.
MyPeaceWithGod.ca explains step by step—through text and video—the love God has for His people, the sacrifices His Son made to set each of us free, and what we can do to invite Jesus into our lives. Site visitors are invited to ask questions that are answered by trained online volunteers. Ultimately, visitors are given an opportunity to commit their lives to Christ.
Those who accept the invitation experience a digital equivalent of a time-honored BGEAC crusade, including immediate follow-up, prayer and support from trained Christian counselors, discipleship materials and other resources, plus an opportunity to connect with a local church.
“MyPeaceWithGod.ca is an exciting 24-hours-a-day, 365-days-a-year ministry available to everyone,” says Fred Weiss, BGEAC’s executive director.
Mesh Hit, manager of BGEAC’s Internet Evangelism ministry, says thousands of Canadians go online daily in search of answers to questions like “Who is God?” and “Why am I here?”
“The number of queries like that to Google, Bing, and the other search engines is enormous,” Hit says. “MyPeaceWithGod.ca is designed to answer those questions in a compassionate and direct way while also introducing people to Jesus Christ.”
Since the site’s launch last month, the desktop and mobile versions have collectively attracted more than 5,700 visitors to date, with several making first-time faith commitments, others rededicating their lives to Christ, and some taking first steps by asking questions.
Donations and Volunteers Needed
BGEAC’s Internet Ministry includes the opportunity for churches and individual Christians to become involved by not only supporting the ministry through donations and prayers, but by taking training and serving as online counselors. The entry site for supporting churches and Christian volunteers is SearchForJesus.ca.
